for the 2012 season. Mike will join father Jan, and Branich will again
feature the father/son driver combination that has achieved some of the
most prestigious trophies in asphalt modified racing. Rounding out the
roster will be Erich Kaempffe, who will return to 600 microsprint racing
in 2012. Complete Story
Mike Leaty Concludes Successful 2011
Racing Season and looks forward to 2012
The 2011 racing season came to an end
with the running of the US Open at Dunn Tire Raceway park. Mike brought
both the sportsman and modified home with top five finishes and finished
out 2011 on a high note. It was a season of many consistent finishes
and a few wins as well. Mike would like to thank his crew, sponsors,
family, and friends for a fun and successful 2011.

The Northeast
Industrial Technologies / MPL Motorsports modified ran the entire Race
of Champions Modified tour and other selected events at Dunn Tire
Raceway park. There was a rough stretch in the middle of the season
with back to back DNF’s at Shangri La 2 and the Oswego 200 but for the
most part the season was a huge success. At that point in the season we
had dropped to the back half of the top 10 in points. However, with a
strong finish to the season, including a win at the Chemung Speedrome we
were able to move back up in the final point standings.
We wound
up the season 4th in RoC points, had one win, 6 top 5’s, and
10 top 10’s in 12 starts. We were one mechanical failure, and one
accident away from contending for a championship.
2011
marked the first season together for Mike Leaty and the Jeff Deminck
lead HJ Motorsports team at Spencer Speedway. The first year
together was a huge success as the team competed in 14 events at Spencer
Speedway, and one each at Oswego and Dunn Tire Raceway Park
and never finished outside the top 5! Add to that a season high 5
victories at Spencer Speedway and a 2nd place finish in the
championship
standings, this will be a team to be reckoned with in 2012.
The
landscape around asphalt modified racing will be changing in 2012. The
RoC modified tour has announced there will be significant rules
changes for next season and Andy Harpell will be holding some track owner
meetings to discuss the direction of modified racing going forward.
There will be some testing and rules changes coming in the near future.
Nobody likes change, but these are changes that need to be made for
the continuation of modified racing going forward. Leaty Racing has all
the equipment necessary heading into 2012 and no matter what the RoC
Tour and Andy Harpell decide to do we will be there to support his
Modified tour. We will also be selling some cars and building some new
ones
as well. Stay tuned here for all the exciting off season news as it
unfolds and thanks again for checking in with us.
