This past weekend the Race of Champions Modified Tour made their
annual stop at the Oswego Speedway on memorial day weekend. MPL
Motorsports debuted our brand new 2010 Troyer modified and brought it
home with a solid top 5 finish.
The day started off with a 2nd place
finish in the heat race which put us in the redraw for the 75 lap main
event. We drew 4th and started on the outside of row two. At
the drop of the green flag, the outside pole sitter oiled down the track
which made for some anxious moments getting into the first turn but we
narrowly survived. Numerous other cars weren’t so lucky as there
was a six car pileup on the first lap. When the race restarted, we
continued to run in the top five. We were as high as 2nd and as
low as 5th throughout the 75 lap event. With about 5 to go we were
running a strong 3rd when he made an outside move on the 2nd place car
and gently scrubbed the front stretch wall. This error wound up
costing him a spot but the team still brought home a solid 4th place
finish.
MPL Motorsports now sits 2nd in RoC
tour points after 3 events. We are tentatively planning on running
all of the remaining RoC events. Without major sponsorship for the
2010 season that could easily change. Thanks to Northeast
Industrial Technologies for their continued support and all of our
product sponsors as well.
Our next event we will be heading
home to Spencer Speedway on Friday night, June 18th. Then
the following night we will be racing at Dunn Tire Raceway Park for a 75
lap event. Hopefully we can get a couple of good finishes and take
over that point lead. Thanks for checking in.
