Another Top 3 for Leaty at Spencer
We had high hopes going into the 30 lap feature at Spencer Speedway
this Friday after having such a strong car in the 100 lapper the week
before. The heat race was a struggle, we started third in the 10 car heat
and dropped to a sixth place finish. We were not too worried about it
because we knew the tires on the car were not up to snuff but didn’t think
they would keep us out of a qualifying spot.
This made the Rochester Steel
Treating/Wayne Regional Orthopaedics car start the feature in the 13th
position. The race was an interesting one, the field has been very
competitive from front to back and passing is tough. Because of this
parity, restarts were very important and this is were we excelled Friday
night.
I was able to race my way to a good
third place finish with a decent handling car, but most or all of the
moves were made one or two laps after the three restarts we had during the
30 lap race. The top two cars and us were all running about the same lap
times at the end. We were happy to get out of this race with a strong top
three finish.
This weekend we have another double
header as we run a 30 lap race at Spencer Speedway on Friday night and a
75 lap RoC North event at Oswego on Saturday night. Thanks for checking
in. -Mike Leaty |
