Leaty Takes Runner-Up Spot at Spencer; Moves Into Point Lead
It was a very hot night a Spencer Speedway Friday night and the last thing my entire Wayne Regional Ortho/Rochester Steel Treating Works team wanted to do was fixed a wreck hot racecar. Unfortunately in the heat a bone-head move by a veteran driver put us in the frontstretch wall. It ruined the front of the car and my entire team went to work. It is frustrating when something like this happens but cooler heads usually prevail.

We were forced to start the feature in the 13th position but we didn't stay there long. At the drop of the green we moved into the top ten. Once I caught the front pack I decided that they were racing too hard and something big was going to happen so I backed off, saved my tires and watched. It didn't take long until a couple of guys got together and a couple of cars piled into the wall. It was obvious that it was coming.

Now we were about 8th but it was time to go. There was a lot of cautions along the way but we were able to make our way up to 2nd with about 6 to go. I tried my best to get around the leader but couldn't quite pull off the pass. Second was a great result after our problems earlier in the night and it put us back in the points lead by a 12 point margin. So far so good.

This weekend we race at Spencer Speedway Friday night and Wyoming County (Perry) Sunday afternoon for the 2nd RoC tour race of the season.
